How to tie a square knot
The square knot is a very secure knot and probably the first know taught by the boy scouts.
Square knots are excellent when you have two ropes or cords that are not the same diameter.
The saying for tying a square knot is “right over left, left over right”
To start a square knot, put the red rope (right hand) over the blue (left).
Put the right (red) end over the left (blue) end and back under the left.
Bring the right (red) rope up over the left (blue) rope.
Now take the left side (red) and pass it over the right (blue).
Take the left side (red) under and through the right (blue)
The knot will appear as seen below
Hold the 2 left strands (blue) in your left hand and the 2 right strands (red) in your right hand and pull away from each other to tighten.
